DFW Mountaineers Alumni Chapter Scholarship Reached Endowment Threshold

We recently reached the $25,000 endowment threshold for our scholarship fund. As a result, the WVU Foundation will award an annual grant, on our Chapter's behalf, to an undergraduate student from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area in perpetuity.

Thank you to every generous Mountaineer who contributed to this worthy cause. We intend to continue to raise funds and grow the scholarship amount over time.

One Day until WVU Day of Giving (Nov. 14)

WVU Day of Giving kicks off this Wednesday, November 14 at 12:00 a.m. EST

Mountaineer Nation will come together tomorrow for the second annual WVU Day of Giving to help forge a brighter future for West Virginia University.

I encourage you to take part in this annual Day of Giving by contributing to the DFW Mountaineers Alumni Chapter Scholarship Fund. This scholarship has awarded over $5,000 to WVU students from the Dallas/Fort Worth area since inception.

There are many opportunities for your gift to have double, or even triple the impact. In addition to University-wide matches and challenges, many of the participating groups have opportunities for your gift to go even further. The Dallas/Fort Worth Alumni Chapter's board is matching dollar for dollar the first $2,000 that is donated to our chapter scholarship fund on this day.

Increase the impact of your gift--many employers provide matching funds at a later date if made to an eligible charity. The WVU Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization and will provide you with a tax receipt

Dallas Alumni Clubs of the Big 12 Universities College Football Kick-Off Mixer

Back by popular demand... the 2nd Annual College Football Kick-Off Mixer! Join your fellow Dallas-area Big 12 Alumni Clubs as we gather to once again kick-off football season in style!

All 10 universities, in preparation for the 2018-2019 season, will be ready to mix, mingle and spout off some friendly trash-talk to our conference rivals.

We will be taking over the High Fives patio and enjoying food, drinks and fun. Happy Hour pricing will be in effect during the event: $5 sandwiches and $5 select beer/cocktails.

The WVU Alumni Association and Mountaineer Athletic Club invite you to join fellow Mountaineer fans in Dallas before WVU takes on Utah in the Zaxby’s Heart of Dallas Bowl. The tailgate will be located right outside of the stadium’s Gate A. Menu includes sliced brisket, sliced turkey, potato salad, BBQ beans, BBQ sauce, roll, peach cobbler, and iced tea. Cash bar prices include $4 domestic beer, $5 imported beer, and $6 wine. Please note that alcohol will not be available for purchase inside the stadium. We hope to see you in Dallas!

I am excited to announce that online tickets are now available for the official WVU Tailgate @ TCU, sponsored by DFW Mountaineers.

West Virginia University Tailgate Ticket includes:

BBQ dinner
Pre-game celebration with fellow Mountaineer fans
Short walk to Amon G Carter Stadium
Special appearance by the WVU Mountaineer

Saturday, October 7 - 11:30 AM CT (Game time: 2:30 PM CT)
Tailgate location: Grassy area outside of tennis courts, near lot 14

Hurricane Harvey Disaster Relief Drive - Update

Thank you to everyone who brought supplies for our Hurricane Harvey Disaster Relief Drive. We sincerely appreciate everyone's generosity and delivered the following items to Willie Brown Elementary (Salvation Army drop point):

1,840 baby wipes
182 diapers
28 toothbrushes
16 tubes of toothpaste
6-pack of Gatorade
5 cases of water
3 cases of granola bars
2 blankets
