Each year, over 9,000 children are admitted to WVU Medicine Children's Hospital, many facing severe health challenges in an unfamiliar environment. To provide comfort, the WVU Alumni Lone Star Chapter launched the Bears and Blankets program six years ago, supporting the hospital's Child Life Program. In 2025, the initiative was expanded nationwide as a community involvement project for WVU Alumni Chapters. Through this effort, the WVU Alumni Association and all of its chapters will collect and donate stuffed animals and blankets to bring comfort to young patients during their hospital stay. Our goal is to collect 1,000 Bears and Blankets through both item donations and financial contributions by December 1st.

We recently reached the $25,000 endowment threshold for our scholarship fund. As a result, the WVU Foundation will award an annual grant, on our Chapter's behalf, to an undergraduate student from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area in perpetuity.

Thank you to every generous Mountaineer who contributed to this worthy cause. We intend to continue to raise funds and grow the scholarship amount over time.

​The WVU Alumni Association and Mountaineer Athletic Club invite you to join fellow Mountaineer fans in Dallas before WVU takes on Utah in the Zaxby’s Heart of Dallas Bowl. The tailgate will be located right outside of the stadium’s Gate A. Menu includes sliced brisket, sliced turkey, potato salad, BBQ beans, BBQ sauce, roll, peach cobbler, and iced tea. Cash bar prices include $4 domestic beer, $5 imported beer, and $6 wine. Please note that alcohol will not be available for purchase inside the stadium. We hope to see you in Dallas!
