As you're aware, Hurricane Harvey has dropped record amounts of rainfall on the Gulf Coast over the past week and many people are displaced. DFW Mountaineers will be supporting the Salvation Army to help those in need, and I am requesting your assistance.

Please bring your donations to the WVU v. Va Tech game watch this weekend (Sun, Sep 3rd @ Buffalo Joe's). We will deliver all of the collected items to the Salvation Army, who will transport them to the Gulf Coast areas for distribution. All shirts will by navy blue and are available in men’s, women's, and youth sizes and can be purchased for $20 each ($15 for youth sizes). In order to give back to our alma mater and to the local community, the DFW Mountaineers have started a scholarship fund through the West Virginia University Foundation. Beginning with the 2015-16 school year, this fund will annually award a $1,000 scholarship to a WVU student from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Once endowed, it provide an annual scholarship each year in perpetuity.
We have raised $5,000 through major events over the past year and we need to raise an additional $20,000 to reach the endowment threshold. By making tax-deductible contributions directly to the WVU Foundation, you can help our scholarship reach this level. All personal donations will count towards MAC points, with one point per every $1,000. For those of you who make regular donations to the Foundation, we ask that you consider designating the Chapter’s scholarship as the beneficiary. We will publicly recognize these members unless they wish to remain anonymous. |
