Benefiting WVU Medicine Children's Hospital 
Each year, over 9,000 children are admitted to WVU Medicine Children's Hospital, many facing severe health challenges in an unfamiliar environment. To provide comfort, the WVU Alumni Lone Star Chapter launched the Bears and Blankets program six years ago, supporting the hospital's Child Life Program. In 2025, the initiative was expanded nationwide as a community involvement project for WVU Alumni Chapters. Through this effort, the WVU Alumni Association and all of its chapters will collect and donate stuffed animals and blankets to bring comfort to young patients during their hospital stay. Our goal is to collect 1,000 Bears and Blankets through both item donations and financial contributions by December 1st.

We recently reached the $25,000 endowment threshold for our scholarship fund. As a result, the WVU Foundation will award an annual grant, on our Chapter's behalf, to an undergraduate student from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area in perpetuity.

Thank you to every generous Mountaineer who contributed to this worthy cause. We intend to continue to raise funds and grow the scholarship amount over time.

Mountaineer Nation will come together tomorrow for the second annual WVU Day of Giving to help forge a brighter future for West Virginia University.

I encourage you to take part in this annual Day of Giving by contributing to the DFW Mountaineers Alumni Chapter Scholarship Fund. This scholarship has awarded over $5,000 to WVU students from the Dallas/Fort Worth area since inception.

There are many opportunities for your gift to have double, or even triple the impact. In addition to University-wide matches and challenges, many of the participating groups have opportunities for your gift to go even further. The Dallas/Fort Worth Alumni Chapter's board is matching dollar for dollar the first $2,000 that is donated to our chapter scholarship fund on this day.

Increase the impact of your gift--many employers provide matching funds at a later date if made to an eligible charity. The WVU Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization and will provide you with a tax receipt

Back by popular demand... the 2nd Annual College Football Kick-Off Mixer! Join your fellow Dallas-area Big 12 Alumni Clubs as we gather to once again kick-off football season in style!

All 10 universities, in preparation for the 2018-2019 season, will be ready to mix, mingle and spout off some friendly trash-talk to our conference rivals.

We will be taking over the High Fives patio and enjoying food, drinks and fun. Happy Hour pricing will be in effect during the event: $5 sandwiches and $5 select beer/cocktails.

​The WVU Alumni Association and Mountaineer Athletic Club invite you to join fellow Mountaineer fans in Dallas before WVU takes on Utah in the Zaxby’s Heart of Dallas Bowl. The tailgate will be located right outside of the stadium’s Gate A. Menu includes sliced brisket, sliced turkey, potato salad, BBQ beans, BBQ sauce, roll, peach cobbler, and iced tea. Cash bar prices include $4 domestic beer, $5 imported beer, and $6 wine. Please note that alcohol will not be available for purchase inside the stadium. We hope to see you in Dallas!

​Parking and Driving Information

DRIVING DIRECTIONS TO COTTON BOWL STADIUM

By Car: Cotton Bowl Stadium is accessible from I-30 using Exit 48B if traveling eastbound or Exit 49B if traveling westbound. For navigation only, use 3750 Cotton Bowl Plaza, Dallas, TX 75210.

​By Train or Bus: Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) offers light rail and bus service to Fair Park. DART's Green Line includes two transit stations with easy access to events held in the stadium.

Review the Parking Map for your location.
PARKING PASSES
  • Cash parking lots will be available around the stadium. Only cash will be accepted and passes start at $20 per vehicle.
  • Game day parking will open at 9:30 a.m.
  • RV parking passes are $50 and can be purchased upon arrival with cash only.
  • RV parking will open at Noon on December 25. Enter the fair grounds at Gate 8.
  • RV overnight parking is available and will be in Lot 8. Cotton Bowl Staff and Platinum Security will be on site.
  • For information regarding RV parking, please contact (214) 389-4300.
